Working as a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist in the NHS for 20 years has enabled me to develop my skills supporting children with a range of communication needs.  I am committed to working in partnership with Parents/carers and professionals, leading a local team on the National Initiative ECAT (Every child a Talker) programme for 4 years.  I have undertaken training in PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System), NAS Earlybird, Parent child interaction therapy (Hanen approach) and 'Time out for Parents' training programme.  My specialist area of interest is ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and I have experience working as part of a multidisciplinary Autism Assessment team.  

I am a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist,  with 15 years of experience  in the NHS and independent practice, working with children with a range of Speech, Language and Communication Needs, Complex Needs, Dysphagia and complex feeding difficulties.  I am passionate about working with families and professionals to enable children to feel confident, and reach their potential.   I am trained in several approaches and communication systems including the 'SOS Approach to Feeding', Attention Autism, Picture Exchange Communication system, Signing, Dysfluency (Stammering), Verbal Dyspraxia, and Alternative communication  

I have been qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist for over 25 years. I am a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist with a wealth of experience working with adults, young people and children with Special Educational Needs. I have specialised in ASD for over 18 years and am experienced in the diagnosis of ASD as well as providing specialist intervention and support for those with ASD as well as training for families, carers and professionals.   I have undertaken training in PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) , NAS Early bird programme and the TEACCH programme. I am also ADOS trained and have been involved in local service design and delivery. I am committed to the children and families I work with and am excited to have further opportunities to support those living with ASD and additional needs. 

Following a successful commercial marketing career and the birth of my two children, I found a new direction in helping and then teaching children with speech and language difficulties. Over the past 18 years working with children, I have experienced the importance of supporting child development through their crucial years in formal education and how essential it is to make this an enjoyable experience. 

I am a fully qualified Speech and Language Therapist, a qualified Elklan trainer and have delivered the Cygnet Parent Programme for the past 3 years. I am trained in Lego Therapy, SCERTS, Attention Autism and the Zones of Regulation frameworks.

My specialist area of interest is working with autistic children and their families to allow them to achieve their potential. I currently work part time for The Communication Workshop with the rest of my time based at specialist educational provision for children (7 - 16+ years).

When not at work, I split my time between her family, my enormous dog and most importantly my favourite pastime, eating cake.

Charlie qualified from Newcastle University in 2018 and has worked clinically in the NHS for 6 years. Currently working as Clinical Lead for Speech Sound Disorders and Cleft in the NHS alongside running the Specialist Speech Clinic at Cardiff Metropolitan University, Charlie is passionate about research and evidence based practice in the field of Speech Sound Disorders. Charlie has a published research paper, “Does the Duration and Frequency of Dummy Use Impact Speech Sound Development” (Strutt et al. 2021), recently contributed to the updating of the RCSLT Clinical Guidance for Speech Sound Disorders through the project reference group and sits on the committee for the London Speech Disorders Clinical Excellence Network. Charlie is Bilingual, speaking Spanish fluently and has a keen interest in the assessment and treatment of Speech Sound Disorders in a bilingual context.

 Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist

 I qualified as an Occupational Therapist in South Africa and have worked in both South Africa and the UK.  I have worked in the NHS and independent practice, with children aged between 0-18 years with a wide variety of diagnoses.  I completed my sensory-integrated training in South Africa and have done my 8-week Bobath training and advanced Bobath in babies.  I recently completed a post-graduate certificate at Oxford Brooks in complex postural management.  I am passionate about helping children to participate actively in all areas of their lives.

Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist

Abigail, a dual Psychology & Speech Pathology graduate of Manchester Metropolitan University

2013 is an experienced clinician who has worked internationally within the NHS and private health

sector in both the UK and the Middle East (Oman/UAE). Abigail works with children and their

families, provides training to schools/nurseries, and collaborates with

allied health and educational professionals, with a passion for neurodiversity affirming, evidence-

based practise, multidisciplinary teamwork and continuing education. She specialises in Autism

Spectrum Condition and is certified in administration of the ADOS-2. She is also trained in the

administration of standardised speech and language assessments, used alongside different

intervention approaches, including a special interest in AAC, to support children with a variety of speech, language and communication needs including developmental language disorder/delay;

speech sound disorder/delay and learning and social communication difficulties.

Abigail is a member of the UK based Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) and

holds licences to practise with The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) UK, the Ministry of health, Oman (MOH) and the Dubai Health Authority (DHA). Abigail is passionate about increasing awareness of SLCN with a specialist interest in ASC, supporting the families she works with and the communities she serves to gain greater understanding and acceptance through her diagnostic, therapeutic and outreach work. Abigail strives to make sure her work is client focused, evidence based, reliable and tailor made to suit the child's individual needs,

whilst being supportive and flexible for parents and the team around the child.

I am a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant and the Administrative Coordinator for the team.

I have worked as a speech and language therapy assistant within the NHS for over 6 years and in early years settings for 30 years !

In addition to this I have skills in supporting my colleagues in an administrative role .I am passionate in supporting The Communication Workshop, both clinically and administratively in supporting children to achieve their full potential.
